Programs and Specialized Services

At Wilkes Developmental Day School (WDDS), we provide individualized, developmentally appropriate services to support each child's unique needs. Our specialized programming includes:


Therapeutic Services

  • Speech & Language Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy


full-time registered nurse is on site to monitor children's health and attend to any medical needs that may arise.


Early Intervention and Special Education

WDDS offers early intervention and special education services both in-center and in the home. We maintain a strong working relationship with the Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) to ensure continuity of care.


A full-time Infant-Toddler Specialist is also on staff to monitor developmental milestones and identify early signs of delay.


Highly Qualified Staff

  • Children ages 3 and older learn from a B-K certified teacher in the classroom.
  • All other lead teacher assistants either hold or are pursuing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Supportive volunteer grandparents enrich classroom environments and routines.

Low Child-Staff Ratios

  • 1:4-- Infant Room
  • 1:5-- One-Year-Old Room
  • 1:6-- Two to Five-Year-Old Room

With parental permission, teachers use TS Gold assessments to evaluate each child's developmental progress. Assessment results guide individualized goal-setting and are shared with families to support learning at home.

Healthy Meals and Nutrition Education

WDDS participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and follows best-practice nutrition standards. 

Meals are prepared by our cook, who holds an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts and is SAFESERVE Food Safety Certified.
