Story wrote by a former

Hi, my name is Katie and when I was little I
started attending Wilkes Developmental Day School. I have lots of health
problems and I needed teachers that were trained to take care of me and it
really helped that they had a nurse there too. As I got bigger I needed help
with learning to walk, use my hands the right way and to feed myself. The Day
School had Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Therapist there
so that I could get my therapy there and also they taught my teachers and my
foster Mom exercises that would help me get stronger. It took a little while
but I did learn to walk, talk and feed myself.
I graduated from the Day School in
May of 2006 to attend Developmental K at C. C. Wright Elementary School. The
things that I learned at the Day School helped me start school just like any
other little girl. My teachers and therapists and all the workers at the Day
School will always be my special friends that I will never forget. My Mom says
she could not have made it without their support.
